Gizmo - Physical computing

December 2024

Gizmo was a second year physical computing project. The brief was broad, demanding only human interaction as a main focus. The module lead encouraged, “whimsical, subversive, anti-solutionist and absurd gizmos. With this in mind, my partner, Harry, and I created Mei, a robot that balances on a netball and interacts with people as a cute companion.

The project goes far beyond the brief, we are very proud of what we have created! I designed the head along with all the human interaction elements, Harry coded a PID controller to allow Mei to balance on the netball. Alongside a demo of the project, the submission included a portfolio, video and the code which are shown here.
