PedalEase
This was my A-level Design, Engineering & Technology project. It took a human-centred approach to enable paraplegic pianists to use the pedals on a piano.
The user controlled the pedals by nodding, a phone attached to their head would read these movements to send to the product.
The final design used an arduino to take accelerometer readings from the phone and control 3 pneumatic pistons to depress the pedals. For the manufacture, I used routing, plywood laminating, laser cutting, plasma cutting and 3d-printing.
